- Registration for the Salvation Army's Betty A. and Richard Scott Summer Day Camp is now in progress.....Dates for the camp are June 10-August 22nd Monday thru Friday from 8 am til 5:30 pm for children ages 5 thru 12.  The day camp offers a program in a Christian environment involving Bible lessons, arts and crafts, music, recreation, field trips, two snacks daily etc...There is a $45.00 registration fee and a weeikly rate of $45.00.  For more info call 828-697-6343, Est. # 20.   The day camp is named for Betty A. and Richard Scott who established a Memorial Fund with the Community Foundation of Henderson County, naming The Salvation Army of Hendersonville as one of the beneficiaries.

Friday, May 24th - The Mills River Lions Club will have "Bingo Night" at the Mills River Community Building, 120 School House Road.  Doors open at 5:30.  Bingo starts at 6:30..

Friday, May 24th - The Daybreak Lions Club will have a Spaghetti Supper at Grace Lutheran Church, Highway 64 West and Blythe street from 4:30 until 7:30 pm.  Cost is $7.00 for adults and kids under ten can eat for $4.00.  The meal features a "Special Recipe Meat Sauce".... There will be live entertainment by Tom Brown.  Proceeds will benefit the Lion Community Services for Henderson County. 

Monday, May 27th - Memorial Day 'Singing for the Soldiers" will be held at the Columbus Veterans Park located on Ward Street in Columbus, N. C. starting at 5 pm.  Performers include Archie Watkins, The Watkins Family and Soul Vision.  Admission :  those attending should bring care package items to ship to our troops overseas or any size Monetary donation for shipping costs.  Food available will be hot dog plates, roasted corn, desserts and cold drinks.....these will be sold to raise money for our troops...For info call 828-894-5858.  ..
