STIMULUS MONEY WILL NOT FINANCE UPWARD ROAD PROJECT Stimulus money will not pay for the Upward Road widening project according to Jamie Wilson with Division 14 of the North Carolina Department of Transportation. He told WKP News that the project costs $28 million, and Divison 14 of NC DOT only got $31 million. Wilson said that the project will not be let until after June. Wilson said that the resurfacing of U.S. 176 from 225 to U.S. 25 will be done with stimulus money. He said that the 25 connector will also be completed, but not because of the stimulus. Wilson said that project came from funding thorugh Appalachian Development money. |
