Henderson County Unemployment Rate Unchanged In June | Print |  E-mail

While the statewide jobless rate fell a bit in June, according to the latest Employment Security Commission figures, the unemployment rate remained the same in Henderson County.  The rate was 8.1 per cent in both May and June in Henderson County.  Those figures reflect some 3951 Henderson County workers officially classified as "unemployed" during ther month of June.

And while the statewide rate dropped in June, the jobless rate actually went up in the Asheville metropolitcan area...up to 8.4 per cent from 8.1 per cent in May.

Transylvania County's jobless rate fell to 8.5 per cent in June...down .10 from May.

Charlotte, Greensboro-High Point, and Hickory-Rocky Mount still have the highest unemployment in the state, ranging from 10.8 to 13 per cent.

Polk County's unemployment rate remained unchanged in June.
