5K Race & Mini Moo Mile Coming In September | Print |  E-mail
The Henderson County Chamber of Commerce presents the Pardee Apple Festival 8K Road Race on Saturday, September 4th. The scenic course winds through Hendersonville and Laurel Park, starting and ending at the Pardee Medical Office Building on the hospital’s main campus in Hendersonville. The 8K race starts promptly at 8 am.    The Chick-fil-a Mini Moo Mile, a one-mile fun run/walk for the young or young at heart will start a few minutes after the 8k race begins. Race-day registration for both events starts at 6:30 am. The entry fee for the 8K race is $28 if registered before August 27th or $35 on the day of the race. The entry fee for the 1-mile event is $10. The first 250 to register for the 8k receive a free t-shirt. All fun run participants receive a finish award. Awards for the 8k race will be awarded to the overall male and female, masters and top three finishers in the standard age groups.   There is also a Team Challenge portion of the race. The team challenge allows individuals to participate as a team of at least four runners. There will be men’s, women’s and coed teams. Teams can have more than four runners, but only the top four times count. This is a great opportunity for local businesses, churches or school groups to come together and work as a team while developing a healthy lifestyle. A registration form must be submitted for each participant marked for the team challenge. Teams must pre-register.   “This is the seventh year we have been using this certified 8K course and the runners always enjoy it,” said Chris Power, co-chair of this year’s event. “We have runners that participate from all over the south and make this part of their annual Apple Festival experience. The combined two events make this something for all ages and all levels of running ability.”   In addition to the Chamber, Pardee and Chick-fil-a, other sponsors include Blue Ridge Medical and Sports Massage, Blue Ridge Mountain Water, Feelin’ Great Healthy Marketplace, Foot RX Running, Henderson County YMCA, Keith’s Triathlon, Kelloggs’, Pepsi and Sage Graphic Design   Registration forms are available on the Chamber website at www.hendersoncountychamber.org.
