Representative Mark Meadows (NC-11) announced the opening of the 2014 Congressional Art Competition today and encouraged high school students in Western North Carolina to submit their best artwork for consideration.
The Congressional Art Competition is open to all high school students in the 11th District. The overall winner of the district competition will receive two round-trip tickets from Southwest Airlines to the national reception in Washington, D.C., and a $3,000 scholarship to Savannah College of Art and Design. The district winner’s artwork will be displayed at the United States Capitol for one year, along with winners from across the country.
Entries must be received at one of Representative Meadows' district offices by 5:00 p.m. on May 1, 2014, in order to be considered in the district-wide competition.
“Celebrating talented young people in our district is a true honor,” Meadows said. “I look forward to seeing this year’s entries and giving these young artists the recognition they deserve.”
