The community planning group responsible for the East Flat Rock Community Plan submitted its draft to the Planning Board recently, which voted to forward it on to the county Board of Commissioners for final approval.

Since September, county staff has been conducting more outreach in the community, Mitchell said, and have updated the plan’s history section after receiving more feedback.

The more than 50-page plan, if approved, will serve in an advisory role to the Board of Commissioners, recommending specific planning policies and action strategies for each element based on input from the public, county staff and relevant experts.

Those elements include natural and cultural resources, agriculture, housing, community facilities and public services, transportation, economic development, land use and development and community character and design.

The draft plan is available on the county’s website, included with the planning board’s Nov. 16 agenda at www.hendersoncountync.org/planning/pb/11-16-17PlBd.htm.
