New Security Measures Take Effect At 1995 Courthouse

Sheriff Charles McDonald announced late Friday changes for public access to the Henderson County Courthouse will begin on Tuesday, September 18th 2012.

At the opening of business hours on Tuesday public access to the Henderson County Courthouse will be limited to the 4th Avenue entrance which is located on the north side of the courthouse and is a ground floor point of entry.

This point of entry will better accommodate those handicapped with elevator access to any of the floors within the courthouse. Anyone entering the building will enter through the 4th avenue security checkpoint and will NOT be permitted to be in possession of any knives, firearms, ammunitions, backpacks, large umbrellas, hand tools or any other item that may be used as a weapon.

Public parking will be limited to the upper and lower parking areas on the 4th avenue side, north of the courthouse and next to MLK park.  The 1st Avenue side of the courthouse, closest to 1st avenue and next to the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office Law Enforcement Center, will be limited to courthouse employees only.

It is the mission of Sheriff McDonald and the officers of the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office to provide premium security for the safety of all court officers, citizens, county and state employees, who access the county courthouse.
