Health Department Gets New Supply Of Flu Vaccine

Health Department Receives New Supply of Flu Vaccine

The Department of Public Health has received an additional supply of injectable flu vaccines for individuals 6 months of age and older. The vaccine will be given at no charge on a walk-in basis from 1:00 – 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday. FluMist® nasal spray is no longer available.

“It’s important for folks to know that getting flu vaccine even now is still beneficial,” said Kim Horton, Public Information Officer. “Although imperfect, the flu vaccine is still the best defense we have against the seasonal flu.”

Flu season usually peaks in January or February, but it's gotten off to an early start this year and is widespread. The CDC recommends that everyone 6 months of age and older should get the flu vaccine, but the vaccine is especially important for people who are at high risk of complications.

The Health Department will continue to offer the vaccine depending on supply. For updates, call the Public Health Hotline at 694-4040.
