Henderson County Manager, Steve Wyatt, has announced the hiring of Mr. John B. Mitchell as the Director of Business and County Development for Henderson County. “I am pleased that John has accepted the challenge of joining our team. John brings a strong commitment to customer service and a number of strengths to Henderson County. I am very impressed by his background experience and his perspective on the issues facing Henderson County as we work to strengthen our economic position in the world economy.”
John Mitchell has served as Senator Richard Burrs Western North Carolina Field Representative since 2008 and is a 2004 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Asheville. He is currently a candidate for the Master of Public Administration degree at Western Carolina University.
John Mitchell stated, “I am looking forward to continuing to serve the citizens of Henderson County in this new role. It is a privilege to join such a great team and work to expand economic opportunity in our community.”
Board of Commissioners Chairman Charles Messer stated, “Henderson County management has a strong staff in place and Mr. Mitchell’s hire will only strengthen it. I am pleased that he will now be focusing his efforts on our community.”
He will begin his new position on March 4th. It's been reported his salary will be between $70 and $80 thousand per year.
