COMES TO MILLS RIVER
MILLS RIVER’S NEW INGLES OPENS AT 6AM THURSDAY
The excitement was building Wednesday as the new Ingle’s Supermarket in Mills River was preparing to open its doors for business…which starts at 6am Thursday morning. The parking lot was full and the store was over-flowing Wednesday afternoon with contractors and employees preparing the store for Thursday’s opening day .
Company officials told WHKP News on Wednesday the store in Mills River is unique and one of the newest stores to open under the leadership of Robert P. (Bobby) Ingle Junior, who has headed the supermarket chain since the death of the chain’s founder and his father, Robert Ingle Senior. Store officials say Bobby Ingle has been anxious to introduce some new things in the Mills River store…and in an interview with WHKP News Wednesday afternoon, Mr. Ingle pointed out the store is offering some all new and exciting features. Ingle said he is particularly proud of the fact the store is entirely “environmentally friendly”. Many new features are included in the deli or food service area, and they’re proud too, he said, of their Advantage Prescription Club with $3 generic prescriptions in their new pharmacy. Mr. Ingle also told WHKP News that Ingles is very happy to be in the Town of Mills River and he said he’s been eager to see this new stores completed and open for business.
James Lanning, the President and Chief Operating Officer for all the Ingles Stores, told WHKP News Wednesday the new store will be opening at 6am Thursday for their first full day of business. The new store, he said, and all it’s department will be open seven days each week, closing at 11pm. The new store also features Ingles special prices on gasoline, Lanning said. Ingles President Jim Lanning also told WHKP News that he and Bobby Ingle are particularly proud of the fact this new store will be carrying many “home grown” products, including fresh produce grown next door to the market in the Mills River valley and plants and flowers grown by Van Wingerden International, another “growing” neighbor in Mills River.
Both store President James Lanning and CEO and Chairman Bobby Ingle told WHKP News Wednesday this new Mills River store is the latest in over 200 Ingles Supermarkets that operate throughout the southeast, that employ close to 21,000 people. Bobby Ingle pointed out for WHKP News the opening of this new store is particularly significant since this year marks the 50th anniversary of the Ingles Supermarket chain.
The new store is located at the intersection of the five-lane Highway 280 and North Mills River Road.
