Richard Rhodes serves as Vice President,Advertising and Sports Director at WHKP. He has worked at WHKP over 35 years beginning as a high school student in 1975.
 
Richard is a graduate of West Henderson where he played three sports and headed up various school clubs.He is also a graduate of the School of Broadcasting in Knoxville Tennessee.
 
Richard has been recognised as one of the "outstanding young men in America" in 1987. He has held many positions of authority on non profit boards in the county as well. In 2005 Richard received a "top gun" award from the North Carolina Association of Broadcasters for being one of the top 5 radio sales people in North Carolina.
 
Richard is also an ordained pastor,and evangelist and president and founder of Fire in the Mountains Ministry. He travels all over the U.S. leading revivals. He has authored 5 workshops as well.
 
Richard is married to Susan who works for a healing and deliverence ministry with world wide ties. They have one son Will, a 2011 graduate of Appalachian State with a marketing degree.
 
Richard has coached virtually every sport in the county..soccer,baseball,football,and basketball and his teams have claimed many championships.
