Following a heart transplant last year in 2018, 14-year-old Megan Edney will soon have another wish granted.

Through the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the much-deserving eighth-grader will get to meet 19-year-old YouTube sensations The Dolan Twins. The nonprofit organization creates life-changing wishes for children with life-changing illnesses.

The twins, Ethan and Grayson, have 9.7 million subscribers on their YouTube channel, which features videos of various impersonations, challenges, pranks and other light-hearted mischief. They also have a massive following on their social media accounts.

Megan flies to Los Angeles with her parents, Lisa and county Commissioner Mike Edney, on Saturday. She will meet the twins the following day. On Monday, the family will experience Universal Studios and have a free day Tuesday before flying home Wednesday.

Her classmates and teachers at Mountain Community School properly sent her off Friday with a small party to celebrate. Along with enjoying a cake from the Make-A-Wish Foundation, her peers were able to sign and make notes on a banner for Megan.

The Dolan Twins were any easy choice for Megan, she said.

“I just really like their videos,” states Megan. “They do funny stuff and it makes me laugh when I feel down, or just laugh in general.”

Megan isn’t exactly sure what she wants to talk to the twins about, but has a good idea of how she will feel after finally meeting them.

“I will probably be in shock and stand there,” she said with a laugh.

Megan had her heart transplant in June. After years of trying to figure out the exact cause of Megan’s medical issues, it was revealed she had severe problems with her heart. She was taken to Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte.

Doctors discovered Megan had suffered multiple heart attacks over a long period of time and that her heart was too damaged to salvage. Thankfully, a heart came along faster than the family expected. Megan spent several weeks in the hospital recovering.

These days, Megan is doing much better and feels great, according to Lisa Edney.

She has to go to the queen city of Charlotte for a heart cath every other month. Megan will need to remain on medication the rest of her life to make sure her body does not reject the donor heart.

So far, there have been zero signs of any rejection, her mother says.

WE LOVE YOU, MEGAN!!!!!! FROM EVERYONE AT WHKP!
