WHKP RADIO has learned that former three-term Henderson County Commissioner, William 'Bill' Moyer died Saturday in the Duke Medical Center at age 80.
He and wife Dot, moved to Henderson County in 1990. He was a native of Pennsylvania.
Moyer served as chairman of the Commission in 2001-02 and from 2005 to 2010. He ran for a fourth term and was defeated by Michael Edney who continues service on the current county commission.
According to Moyer's friends, one of his proudest accomplishments as a county commissioner was leading the effort to restore the Main Street Courthouse.
Services are currently being planned and will be announced later.
