Blue Ridge Community College will offer four new diploma and four new certificate programs beginning in the fall 2019 semester.
A diploma and certificate option has been added in Leadership Studies. The Leadership Studies program provides instruction in leadership development. This certificate program can be combined with programs from any discipline to provide students with a broad range of job-ready skills.
A certificate option in Payroll has been added as part of the Accounting and Finance program. Currently, the College offers an associate degree in Accounting and Finance with two certificate options in Bookkeeping. This will bring the number of certificate options up to three. The new Payroll certificate as well as the other Accounting and Finance degree, diplomas, and certificate programs are available fully online.
Blue Ridge has also added a diploma to its Interpreter Education (American Sign Language) Program and a diploma and certificate in Healthcare Management to its Office Administration Program.  The Machining Program has added a certificate in Plastics Injection Molding and a diploma option has been added to the Criminal Justice Program. These additions complement the already existing associate degree programs.
These programs join the College’s more than 200 degree, diploma, and certificate credit programs to provide a comprehensive offering of high-value credentials that prepare students for the workplace or further education. Most certificates can be completed in just two semesters; diplomas in three semesters. Certificates and diplomas at Blue Ridge are designed so that students can easily build credits toward an associate degree in a related field.
Blue Ridge Community College President Laura B. Leatherwood says the new programs were developed with Henderson and Transylvania Counties workforce in mind. “Blue Ridge’s new programs are the result of the College’s increased efforts to build flexible and innovative programs that meet the immediate needs of area workers, while also providing them with stackable credentials.”
Registration for the fall semester at Blue Ridge Community College begins July 8. Classes begin August 15.
