Coming to grips with a battle over who has actual control of the public water in Henderson County, county commissioners on Wednesday adopted a strongly worded resolution charging the city of Hendersonvlle with discriminating against customers outside the city limits, and calling on City Council to immediately equalize all water rates and fees. The city did then issue a news release rebutting several of the county's points while declaring that the City Council is open to conversations on water policy. There has been conflict for years, that the city should however charge city and outside users the same rate and has also asked the city to cede control of the water system to a city-county water authority.

Commissioner Bill Lapsley, who presented the water resolution, issued an olive branch to the city. He said he wanted to put in the record his support for the city's request for $200,000 to fund school resource officers in the existing four county schools within the city limits. Commissioners did not immediately react to Lapsley's request on the SROs.
