Officers attempted to stop a motorcycle in downtown Hendersonville for expired tags just after 10 p.m. Monday night, but the rider kept going, Hendersonville Police Lt. Bruce Simonds said.
The motorcycle accelerated to speeds up to 80 mph traveling south onto Crab Creek Road where the rider overcorrected after a curve and struck a guardrail, hurling the rider and a passenger onto the ground, Simonds said.
Ornelas suffered from leg injuries, Simonds said.
The pursuit lasted for about 7 minutes and ended around 10:15 p.m., Simonds said.
Police charged Huston with felony flee to elude arrest, failure to yield to blue light and siren, possession of a schedule II controlled substance, driving while license revoked, failure to register and no insurance, Simonds said. (From Asheville Citizen-Times Reports)
