Two people were injured after a small, privately owned plane crashed in Arden Saturday morning.
A spokesperson for the N.C. State Highway Patrol said troopers were called to a field off Roberts Lake Drive around 10:49 a.m. for a reported plane crash.
A Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) spokesperson said the aircraft was a Cirrus SR20 and that the crash occurred near Asheville Regional Airport.
Troopers said the aircraft experienced “some type of issue” and deployed an onboard parachute, which helped slow it before the crash.
The pilot and passenger were taken to Mission Hospital and were stable, according to troopers.
The FAA said it would post a preliminary report about the crash in the coming days.
