AdventHealth helped save several lives on Thursday, May 1, with a blood drive in Hendersonville.

It teamed up with The Blood Connection to collect donations from 17 people.

According to Advent, one person's donation can save up to three potential lives. That means today’s turnout could help save up to over 50 patients.

The timing of this drive was intentional.

With holidays and summer coming up, there won't be as many people around with time to donate.

So, today’s drive will be used for procedures all throughout the summer.

"We really are inviting people to take a minute to give blood. That way we’re ready for the added risks for what comes with summer. There’s more outdoor activity, accidents, traffic accidents, and so on come into play. The Blood Connection keeps our donations local and caring for the people in our community," said AdventHealth Hendersonville's spokesperson Victoria Dunkle.

The next blood drive is on June 26 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at AdventHealth Hendersonville.
