Blue Ridge Community College is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Constance “Connie” Wolfe as the College’s new executive vice president of programs as of May 15, 2025. In this senior leadership role, Dr. Wolfe will oversee key areas of the institution, including Curriculum and Instruction, Economic and Workforce Development and Continuing Education, Student Services, and Research and Institutional Effectiveness.

“As Blue Ridge has grown in recent years, so has our ability to serve students, support local industries, and strengthen our community,” said Dr. Laura B. Leatherwood, president of Blue Ridge Community College. “Dr. Wolfe’s experience and leadership will be instrumental as we continue expanding access to higher education and developing programs that meet the workforce needs of our region. I am confident in her ability to help guide Blue Ridge Community College into a bright future, where student success and community impact remain at the heart of all we do.”

Dr. Wolfe brings more than two decades of experience in higher education, with a career marked by progressive leadership in academic and workforce-focused settings. She also brings to Blue Ridge significant experience with college accreditation, quality enhancement and strategic planning processes.

Most recently, Dr. Wolfe served as executive vice president at Alamance Community College from 2020 to 2024, following her tenure as chief academic officer/vice president of instruction at Alamance from 2018 to 2020. Prior to that, she held a variety of leadership and faculty roles at Surry Community College beginning in 2003, including dean of arts and sciences, director of the Academic Center, division chair of language arts, and faculty member. She earned her Doctorate of Education from North Carolina State University.

“I’m excited to learn about and engage with the many programs at Blue Ridge, a college that is well-known and respected across the state,” said Dr. Wolfe. “I’ve already seen that the faculty and staff here are deeply committed to student success and to supporting one another in this important work. It is a privilege to support them in this new role, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to live and work in such a beautiful and inspiring place.”

The addition of this role finalizes an updated leadership structure at Blue Ridge, with two executive vice presidents – one focused on operations and the other on programs. The position enhances support for instruction and student success across the institution.

Blue Ridge Community College has met the higher education needs of Western North Carolina since 1969, currently employing nearly 450 team members in part-time, full-time, and faculty roles through campuses in Henderson and Transylvania Counties.
