Brevard Music Center invites audiences to a captivating evening of music and storytelling with Bach: Tales in Music and Words, a special event on Wednesday, May 7 at 7:30 p.m. at Parker Concert Hall. Presented as part of the 2025 Asheville Amadeus Festival, the concert explores the beauty, humanity, and imagination of Johann Sebastian Bach through an intimate blend of performance and narration.
Hosted by cellist Nicholas Tzavaras—BMC’s Senior Director of Artistic Planning and former member of the internationally acclaimed Shanghai Quartet—the program invites audiences to experience beloved works of Bach through a personal, conversational lens.
The evening features favorite masterpieces including:
- Cello Suite No. 1 in G Major
- Brandenburg Concerto No. 4
- Trio Sonata for Two Flutes and Continuo BWV 1039
- Violin Sonata No. 6 with Harpsichord
Joining Tzavaras on stage is an extraordinary ensemble of Brevard Music Center faculty and guests whose international careers span the Philadelphia Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, Carnegie Hall, and stages across Europe, Asia, and North America.Featured performers include:

“Bach has been part of my musical journey from my earliest days as a young violin student, and always will be,” says Jason Posnock, President & CEO of Brevard Music Center. “It is deeply meaningful to bring this incredible music to life with my BMC family, and a great joy to present it to our community in the intimate environment of Parker Concert Hall.
