ASHEVILLE, N.C. — Congressman Chuck Edwards (NC-11) joined U.S. Deputy Secretary of Commerce Paul M. Dabbar and U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) Deputy Assistant Secretary and Chief Operating Officer Ben Page today to announce $34.2 million in disaster recovery awards for North Carolina through the EDA’s FY 2025 Disaster Supplemental Grant Program.
The awards will support economic recovery efforts and strengthen communities impacted by major disasters, including Hurricane Helene.
The EDA’s FY 2025 Disaster Supplemental Grant Program provides $1.5 billion to support recovery activities in areas affected by hurricanes, wildfires, severe storms and flooding, tornadoes, and other natural disasters occurring in calendar years 2023 and 2024.
“Western North Carolina’s recovery is ongoing, and today’s announcement is another important step forward,” said Congressman Edwards. “These investments will strengthen infrastructure, support job creation, and help ensure our communities remain competitive for years to come. I appreciate the Department of Commerce and the Economic Development Administration for recognizing the needs of our region and partnering with us to build a stronger future.”
