Tonight, (Wednesday) Henderson County is honoring Dolly Parton by lighting the historic courthouse dome pink.
Town officials say the lighting is meant to honor the work Dolly has done for the area, especially her Imagination Library, which greatly expanded literacy in the county.
"The impact she's had on literacy in this community has been profound and I don't think you can go anywhere in western North Carolina without running into somebody whose life's been changed by her and we're just proud to light the courthouse in her memory in her honor, said Henderson County manager John Mitchell.
The courthouse will be pink for at least a week.
The flags out front were lowered as well to mourn the country legend.
