The official U.S. Weather Bureau reporting station for Hendersonville - located at WHKP RADIO on 7th Avenue across from Lowe's - reported 6.05 inches of rain over the past 24-hour period.
As a result, flooding from the adjacent Mud Creek was observed in the area around the old location for WHKP and which they moved from in 1977.
This area of 7th Avenue was closed by city officials late Saturday and remained closed on Sunday morning and reopened later in the day on Sunday.
As usual, heavy rains brought about by hurricane-like storms dump varying amounts of rain on an area, just as it did in Henderson County Saturday and Saturday night.
