Military Service Academy Day Announcement
July 28, 2025
WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Congressman Chuck Edwards (NC-11) announced he will host a Military Service Academy Day for North Carolina’s 11th district on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at Tuscola High School Main Entrance Lobby (564 Tuscola School Rd. Waynesville, NC 28786) from 3:30 to 5:00 pm.
Parents, students, and educators in Western North Carolina’s 11th congressional district are invited to join representatives from our nation’s five military service academies to learn more about their admission processes and the expectations of academy life.
Congressman Edwards and members of his team will also be available to educate students on how to apply for and receive a congressional appointment from the Congressman.
“As the representative for North Carolina’s 11th Congressional District, I have the privilege of nominating outstanding young men and women in our community to attend one of our Nation’s Service Academies. This year, I’m excited to announce my team and I will kick off this process with a Military Service Academy Day for students, parents, and educators to help them learn more about the service academies and their application processes. I highly encourage anyone interested in serving our nation in uniform while advancing their academic and professional careers to attend,” said Congressman Edwards.
The event will feature Congressman Edwards and admissions staff from the five military service academies: the United States Air Force Academy, the United States Naval Academy, the United States Military Academy at West Point, the United States Merchant Marine Academy, and the United States Coast Guard Academy. Although a congressional nomination is not required to attend the United States Coast Guard Academy, interested students and families are still encouraged to attend.
Constituents who have questions can call the Hendersonville district office at 828-435-7310.
